Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, suspends revenue collection a day after inauguration.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Fred Itua, made this known in a statement released to the Press on Wednesday, November 13,2024.

“The governor has ordered the immediate and indefinite suspension of revenue collection in Edo State, especially in motor parks and similar areas until further notice”, the statement read.

Jubilation is believed to have erupted among motorist in the state due to the decision made by the governor to suspend revenue collection.

This is the governor’s first major decision as the governor of Edo State after assuming office on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

State Commissioner of Police have also been directed by the governor to arrest anyone who scorns the order.

The governor is said to be preparing to issue new directives as well as address the issue and concerns raised.

“Until new directives are issued, no one is authorised to collect revenues on behalf of the state government”, the statement read.
