Okowa aid, Mr Olise Ifeajika, has claimed that fraud allegations about his principal were clever schemes by malicious persons.

Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, a media Aide of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Former Governor of Delta State, has offered some insights into the N1.3tn diversion of funds by his principal.

Okowa was called to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) on Monday, 4th November 2024. According to Mr Olisa, the invitation received by the former governor from EFCC does not have anything to do with the purported 13 percent derivation Fund.

The Former governor of Delta State was said to have been arrested by the EFCC in Port Harcourt, River states. It was alleged that he failed to give a proper account of 1.3 trillion funds and alleged diversion of funds to acquire estates in Abuja and Delta state’s Capital, Asaba.

In a rejoinder, Mr Ifeajika Okowa’s media aid explained to the public that the claims of misuse of funds are amusing but ever so ridiculous. He went on to say that the allegations were the machinations of “ Malicious, myopic, vindictive and prejudiced persons” while Okowa held the office.

He believed that Okowa’s haters and their media puppets lacked common sense; he questioned the possibility of anybody in their right mind diverting N1.3 trillion for personal gain. He further questioned: “Are we to believe that Okowa’s administration did not pay salaries or execute a single project in eight years?

Mr Olisa further stated, “With few exceptions, the media reports and commentaries have been mostly sensational, mischievous, and gross misrepresentations and distortions of the facts of the matter. They fall far short of the journalistic standards of factual reporting, fairness, balance, and simple logic”.

“EFCC did not establish any case against Dr. Okowa, As the former governor was invited to answer questions relating to some petitions that were filed against him by some disgruntled elements”, Okowa’s aid added.
