The prestigious University of Benin will be hosting its 49th and 50th convocation ceremonies alongside other events, including the Founder’s Day celebration. The occasion honours the achievements of graduating students and the university’s progress. The events will take place from Thursday, 21st November to Saturday, 23rd November, at the Akin Deko Auditorium on the Ugbowo campus.

The outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof lilian Salami extends a warm invitation to the public, encouraging everyone to join in celebrating the accomplishments of the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 graduating classes.

This three-day event will follow the schedule below:

DAY 1 

Thursday, 21st November 2024:  The ceremonies begin with an Interfaith Service at 9:00 am, followed by the Founder’s Day and Convocation Lecture at 11:00 am.

DAY 2

Friday, 22nd November 2024:  The Award of First Degrees and Prizes will be held at 10:00 am.

DAY 3 

Saturday, 23rd November 2024:  The final day will feature the Award of Higher Degrees, Diplomas, and the conferment of Honorary Degrees and Professor Emeritus titles, beginning at 10:00 am.

The convocation will be chaired by the Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, the Tor Tiv. The ceremonies will be attended by dignitaries, alumni, and stakeholders from across the country and beyond, marking a significant milestone in the university’s history and the academic journeys of its graduating students.
