The University of Benin (UNIBEN) Student Union Government (SUG) has cleared Prince Dibiah Stanley of alleged rape charges. This decision follows a thorough investigation conducted by the SUG, through the Office of the Attorney General.

The investigation was initiated after an article circulated, alleging an attempted rape incident involving Prince Dibiah Stanley. A formal meeting was convened to address the allegations, with representatives from the SUG, the National Association of University Students (NAUS), and university security officials in attendance.

After examining the accounts from both the alleged victim and the accused, the investigation found that there was no incidence of rape. The allegations did not meet the legal requirements for rape, which include penetration, lack of consent, and the use of force or coercion.

The SUG emphasised the importance of responsible communication and conflict resolution, ensuring that allegations are handled with diligence and due process. The university community was assured that false allegations would not be tolerated and that victims would be protected.
