The management of the University of Benin has reinforced security measures across the campus following an emergency meeting held with the Deans of Faculties/Schools, the Security Committee Chairman, and the Acting Chief Security Officer in the conference room of the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

In a circular issued by the Office of the Registrar, the university restated that the ban on unauthorised gatherings and sign-outs remains in force. It warned that violators would face strict sanctions.

Additionally, the Security Department has been mandated to clamp down on reckless driving within the university premises. Vehicles with tinted windows have also been prohibited, and any found violating this rule will be impounded and subject to a stipulated fine as mandated by the university.

Furthermore, in order to strengthen security on campus, the Acting Chief Security Officer has been directed to engage the services of relevant external security personnel to maintain order and prevent any unforeseen disturbances.

The circular also highlighted the role of the Dean of Students’ Affairs in collaborating with the Students’ Union leadership to ensure that students understand these new directives. Other deans have also been tasked with disseminating the information within their faculties.

The university instructed that these measures be publicised through official social media platforms and other communication channels to ensure compliance with the new directives.
