The Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Students’ Union Government (SUG), under the leadership of Comrade Austine Jonathan, has outlined its achievements across various sectors. The administration has focused on student welfare, academic support, financial assistance, entrepreneurship, cultural activities, and mobility.

The SUG President and his executive visited the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to enhance student safety and address concerns about police brutality. They collaborated with campus security to implement stronger safety measures for students. The executive team visited the health centre to resolve healthcare challenges, including issues with access cards. Following complaints of students being denied care due to lack of access cards, the SUG abolished the use of access cards at the health centre.

The SUG leadership met with the Acting Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor to address issues surrounding JAMB regularisation. They successfully negotiated with the administration to increase the course registration unit cap, ensuring that final-year students could avoid extending their studies. The President and his team arranged an extension of the school fees payment deadline, allowing more students to meet the requirements for sitting exams. The union ensured makeup exams were provided for students who missed their initial exams due to unavoidable circumstances.

The SUG resolved electricity issues at the college hostel during exams by donating a generator engine and cash. They also provided financial assistance worth ₦100,000 to a student who was involved in an accident.

The Financial Secretary, Comrade Yerimah Joseph, organised the AAU Trade Fair Day, bringing together top companies, industries, and students. The event showcased various products and services, with significant discounts offered to attendees.

The Director of Socials, Comrade Adeoye Sodiq, hosted the AAU Cultural Day, which featured vibrant cultural performances, traditional delicacies, and welcome-back parties for students.

The Director of Information, Comrade Ojiemekele E. Itohan, launched AAU News Room Live, a platform aimed at providing students with credible and up-to-date information.

During the Christmas holiday break, the SUG subsidised bus services for students, enabling them to travel home for just ₦2,500, a significantly cheaper option compared to commercial transport companies.

The SUG President represented the university at several conventions, including the 18th National Convention and Annual General Meeting of the Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association. The union also hosted a jubilation party to celebrate the swearing-in of Edo State Governor, His Excellency Monday Okpebholo, and his Deputy, His Excellency Dennis Idahosa.

The administration of Comrade Austine Jonathan continues to prioritise student welfare and institutional growth, ensuring a more supportive and engaging environment for all AAU students.
