The University of Benin has announced that it will observe the Eid-el-Kabir public holidays on Monday, June 17th and Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, in line with the Federal Government’s declaration.
The university’s Registrar, in a circular memo to the university community, stated that staff on essential duties are expected to report for work as usual, while others are to proceed on the holidays.
The Eid-el-Kabir celebration is a significant religious event in the Islamic calendar, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to make a sacrificial offering in submission to Allah’s command.
The university management, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Lilian Salami, felicitated with Muslim staff and students, urging them to emulate the virtues of obedience, submission, and faith in Allah, by showing love, kindness, and good neighborliness.
The university community has been advised to properly secure their offices and facilities before proceeding on the holidays.
The Vice Chancellor and university management wished the entire university community a restful and peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
