A public alert has been issued by the University of Benin concerning the proliferation of fake Facebook accounts falsely bearing the identity of its Vice Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN.

According to a statement released by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Benedicta Ehanire, the institution has become aware of several fraudulent Facebook profiles created using the Vice Chancellor’s name and images.

The statement emphasized that “Professor Omoregie operates only one official Facebook page” , which remains largely inactive to prevent exploitation by impersonators and online scammers.

Members of the public, including family, friends, and professional associates of the Vice Chancellor, have been urged to “disregard any other Facebook accounts” claiming to represent him, as they are not authentic.

The University assured the community that necessary steps are being taken to report and manage the situation, while cautioning the public to remain vigilant against online fraud and impersonation.
