The Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Professor Edoba Omoregie, alongside key members of the university’s management, undertook a notable tour of various faculties on May 19, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to engage directly with faculty staff, understand their challenges, and offer appropriate solutions—an objective that was successfully met.

The Vice Chancellor visited several faculties, including those of Engineering, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Education, Environmental Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Vocational and Technical Education, Law, and Agriculture.

During his interactions, Professor Omoregie shared some of the progress made under his administration, aimed at elevating UNIBEN’s national and international standing. He proudly announced that the University of Benin is now among eight federal universities selected to benefit from the Federal Government’s Solar Minigrid Energising Education Programme.

He also introduced a new policy initiative involving the recent creation of a College of Postgraduate Studies. The policy is designed to enhance the quality of postgraduate education at UNIBEN, attract more students, and boost their academic confidence.

It is worth recalling that upon assuming office, the Vice Chancellor visited hostels and classrooms to assess pressing needs within the university environment.

Accompanying him on this recent tour were top university officials, including the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Christopher Osubor; DVC (Ekehuan Campus), Professor Buniyamin Ayinde; DVC (Academic), Professor Victor Igbineweka; the Registrar; Acting Bursar, Mr. Ademola Bobola; Acting Librarian, Mr. Gabriel Osadolor; Meggison Tuoyo, Esq; and other senior staff from the Office of the Vice Chancellor.
