The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has released an updated timetable for the election of faculty representatives to the university’s Electoral Commission (ELECO), as announced in the Students News Bulletin on May 6, 2025.
According to the new schedule, the collection and return of nomination forms to the Dean of Students’ office began on Wednesday, April 30, and will run until Thursday, May 8. The deadline for submitting completed forms is set for May 8, no later than 4 p.m.
Faculties with more than one aspirant will conduct elections on Monday, May 12. The results of screened candidates will be released the following day, Tuesday, May 13.
Subsequently, the last parliamentary sitting to elect the ELECO Secretary will take place on Thursday, May 15, while the formal inauguration of the Electoral Commission is scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2025.
The bulletin, signed by Professor Clement Atewe Ighodaro, Dean of Students, emphasized that the Electoral Commission will consist of one representative from each faculty. It also noted that this adjusted timetable supersedes the earlier one released on April 24, 2025.
Students and aspirants are advised to adhere strictly to the updated schedule.
