The management of the University of Benin has called for patience among staff in the institution over the delay in payment of November salary by the Federal Government.
In a statement signed by the management on Tuesday, 3rd December 2024, it was stated that the reason for the delayed payment experienced by all federal universities is a result of the switch from the Integrated Personnel Payroll System(IPPIS) to the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS).
It was also highlighted that following an appeal from the office of the Accountant General of the federation assuring that modalities to guarantee a seamless process for payment were being worked out thus, the explanation becomes pertinent.
Management, therefore, urges the staff of the institution to remain patient as the Accountant General’s office has assured that salaries will be paid promptly as soon as the process is completed. The statement reads.
