The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is set to witness the return of the 5-aside football tournament after previous postponements due to security reasons.
The Students’ Union has officially confirmed that the event will commence on March 28, 2025, at Hall 3, promising thrilling action and intense competition.
The tournament’s opening match will feature an intense battle between the Students’ Union Executive and the Parliament. This match is expected to be heated, as both sides fight for supremacy not in the governance of students, but on the field.
After that, the Faculty of Engineering will go against Basic Medical Sciences in what is expected to be a tough battle. As more teams join them on the field, the intensity of the tournament is expected to rise, with participants battling for the tournament’s glory.
The Students’ Union is extending an invitation to all students to bring their energy and participate in the upcoming tournament.
“Gather your squads, bring your energy, and let’s make this an unforgettable tournament. Who takes the crown? Come and find out!”
In addition to the tournament, several other events are set to take place:
Freshers’ Orientation will be held on March 27 and 28, 2025, at the Auditorium. This program aims to welcome 100-level and 200-level direct entry students into the institution’s academic community.
Ramadan Iftar will take place on March 29, 2025, at the hostel mosque beside Hall 3, giving Muslim students time to reflect and unite in prayer.
The Marathon is set for March 29, 2025, challenging students to come out and compete in a long-distance race.
