The University of Benin has emerged as the winner of the Grant Award, which was instituted by the Nigeria Youth Employment Through Skills Acquisition Fund(NYETSAF), qualifying the university’s position as a Training service provider in poultry farming. The achievement comes from the Federal Ministry of Education, in partnership with the World Bank.

The NYESAF is an initiative of the World Bank followed under the Innovation, Development, and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS)project.

The recommendation of the University of Benin selection followed a successful and highly competitive proposal, which was officially conveyed to the vice chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Christopher Emokaro.

As a first start in this initiative, the University of Benin is to enroll A hundred trainees in poultry farming, providing them with essential skills to enhance agricultural productivity.

The development aligns with one of the key realizations of Professor Edoba Omoregie’s five-point Agenda; this administration is to position the university as an innovative capacity-building and skills acquisition hub across professions, disciplines, and vocations.

The statement was signed by the Deputy Registrar/Public Relations Officer, Benedicta Ehanire, PH.D minor, on March 10th, 2025.

With this recognition, the University of Benin continues to uphold its reputation as “UNIBEST.”
