One month after, are we striving to be the love and light that our world needs? Some may say that “one month is still too close to forget the death of a loved one,” that’s true. The name “Susan” continues to ring a bell in the hearts of present day UNIBEN Students, not because it was just a month ago, nor because she was an Assistant Course Representative, but because she was synonymous to: graciousness, peace, growth, excellence. Susan was beauty-in-and-out. In her classmates’ words, “Susan was literally love and light.”

If Susan had been a daughter of a very influential, wealthy man, or a student of a renowned private university, we might be tempted to attribute her achievements to the fact that she had a good fortune.

Now, however, the more evident claim is that, Susan treasured life in such a way that she radiated this treasure to so many people. With her departure from earth, Susan’s death continues to evoke a wholesome degree of peace in people’s heart – amidst the grieving, and soul rendering stories of her life, many persons have resolved to come to terms with their Creator. And so then, “we too will die one day, a day that we do not know, are we prepared for it?”

• While we’re still breathing here on earth, may our lives be filled with joy and peace, and may we keep striving to make the world a better place.

Miss Susan Oboh, a final year student of the University of Benin, who was reportedly hit by armed robbers’ bullet on March 3 at Osasogie area, a community close to the university gate., was said to have died at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital on the night of Saturday March 5 after efforts to save her life by medical personnel failed.
