The 2023/24 Premier League season has reached its climax and will come to a wrap on Sunday, 19th May 2024. After ten months of pure entertainment, drama, thrills, and exhilarating encounters, the title will be decided on the final day. All games will be played simultaneously at 4 pm Nigerian time.
Two teams, Man City and Arsenal, are in the chasing pack for the Premier League title. City are chasing an unprecedented fourth straight league title, while Arsenal will be aiming to win their first league title in 20 years since their invincible season. City sit top of the table, two points clear, following their mid-week 2-0 win over the Gunners’ North London rivals Tottenham. The Citizens will be in action on Sunday at home to another London outfit, West Ham United. Meanwhile, the Gunners also play at home to Everton.
Elsewhere, in the race for European qualification, three teams will slug it out for a spot in Europe’s second and third-tier competitions next season. With Tottenham already securing qualification, 6th place Chelsea welcome Bournemouth to Stamford Bridge knowing a win or draw will guarantee a top-six finish and could finish as high as 5th should Tottenham lose.
Newcastle United and Manchester United are tied on 57 points each in 7th and 8th positions. Newcastle will be hoping to beat Brentford away from home and expect a slip-up from Chelsea to secure a 6th place finish. Meanwhile, Manchester United will be looking to salvage a poor season and aim for a 7th place finish.
With no relegation battle on the final day, as all three relegated teams have been confirmed, the quest for the Premier League crown and the race for European spots make up the two key talking points on the grand finale of the Premier League season.
