A 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate, Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma from Anambra state, had scored a total of 249 in the just-concluded examination of the board, JAMB, but claimed to have scored a total of 362.
On Sunday, 2nd of July 2023, the spokesperson of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Mr. Fabian Benjamin, announced in a statement that “she had manipulated her UTME result to deceive the public and fraudulently obtain scholarships and other recognitions.”
JAMB adds that the original result of Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma would be withdrawn, further stating that candidates are showing off fake results through the “use of funny software packages.”
The candidate, Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, was said to have been rewarded with the sum of N3 million naira scholarship by Innoson Motors founder, Mr. Innocent Chukwuma.
Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma was said to have requested her UTME result through a message sent to the board’s platform, after which she manually inflated her scores and pasted the same on the 2022 UTME result sheet. Unknown to her, JAMB changed the design and pattern of the 2023 result sheet. Her original result stays at 249, and nothing can change that, according to JAMB.
JAMB further says it will prosecute Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma for manipulating her UTME result in the just-concluded 2023 UTME examination.
