The management of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo, has postponed the resumption date for the 2022/2023 session amidst protests against the school fee hike until further notice.

On Monday, 8th of January 2024, the students of the institution gathered to stage a protest against the school fees hike by the school management. The school fees were said to be increased by over 300 per cent, leaving the students outraged.

The students gathered at the main gate of the institution, disrupting movements around the university in a bid to promote their demands and express their displeasure to the management. They created a hashtag on the popular microblog website, X (formerly Twitter), to possibly amplify their voices.

Recall, months ago, many Federal Universities hiked their school fees for the 2022/2023 session under the grounds of managing the university affairs better.
