No fewer than four members (students) of the Association of Campus Journalists, University of Benin chapter have been selected by the Africa Foundation For Young Media Professionals (AFYMP) funded workshop across four major categories of campus journalism.

The students, after meeting up with the criteria for selection were selected for the following categories; Women In Journalism, Campus Journalism, Media Entrepreneurship and Disability and Social Inclusion.

The workshop, which will have about 63 students from across campuses in the country will take place in Port Harcourt of Rivers State at a date yet to be announced. The participants – members of the Association of Campus Journalists, University of Benin – drawn based on their active participation in campus journalism in the country are a 400 level English Language and Literature student, Deborah Ogunmola, 200 level student of Educational Foundation, Ikegima Elizabeth; Ebedi Jeremiah, a 200 level student of English and Literature Education and Elochuckwu Emeasoba, a 400 level student of English and Literature, while another member, Omorodion Itohan is on the list as at the time of filing this report.

Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals (AFYMP) is a Pan African non-profit initiative established to raise the standard of media professional practice in Africa. It is entirely a media skill development, mentoring, and debate awarding platform to create budding raw materials that will equip the upcoming and middle level established media professionals in the African media industry.

The AFYMP sponsored program is one of the few members of the Association of Campus Journalists, University of Benin has earned this year with about five students beneficiaries to other programs earlier this year and many more in the offing across the country, Africa and the world across
