The very much-anticipated Okpella Education Tour 2025, which is organised by the National Association of Okpella Students (NAOS), officially commenced on Monday, July 1, 2025, at the Ukumunyio community, with a very strong, inspiring and experiential mode of launch that set the mood for the rest of the tour. The launch experienced a large turnout of students, educators, community members, leaders and dignitaries in their numbers, thus creating an atmosphere where excitement and purpose stood out. The major highlight of the day was a series of impactful educational sessions delivered by seasoned speakers on topics that cut across academic excellence, leadership, career development, and the value of education.

Featured speakers in the event included Barr. Onomen Goodness Briggs (represented by Engr. Abdul), Mrs. Grace Illabeshi, and Dr. Chris Iyafekhe (represented by Mr. Saint Michael). Their sessions were highly engaging, and they also spurred enthusiasm and some sense of inquisitiveness amongst the students. Other highlights included motivational talks from various community elders and leaders, distribution of educational materials and stationery, interactive and fun-filled academic quizzes, and remarks from youth leaders and stakeholders. Feedback received from the students was overwhelmingly positive and impressive, and community leaders praised and applauded the initiative as a timely and transformative one. Local government representatives were also in attendance adding visibility, credibility and support to the event.

In her closing remarks, the NAOS President appreciated the Ukumunyio community for their hospitality, support and help. She said, “The future belongs to those who are prepared for it. Through education, we are preparing our people to rise.” The tour, however, continues in the coming days across other Okpella communities, as NAOS remains committed and dedicated to empowering youths through knowledge, insight, education and unity.
