The Okpella Education Tour 2025, put together by the National Association of Okpella Students (NAOS), was undoubtedly a four-day impactful and significant tour around key communities within Okpella. It focused on promoting education, empowerment, development, and community transformation.
On the first day, the tour kicked off in all the height of enthusiasm as students, educators, and community leaders gathered in their numbers at Ukumunyio. This event set the tone for the tour as it focused on rekindling a dying passion for learning and encouraging education as a tool for personal and societal growth and development.
The highlight of the second day of the tour was the Presidential Opening Speech presented by the NAOS National President, who during this course, charged students to take full ownership of their futures through education. However, the turnout from the communities reflected the strong grassroots support given for the advancement of education.
Day 3 of the tour featured key speakers including Dr. Mrs. Sado, who strongly advocated for the education of the girl-child, and Mr. Meshach Anetokhe, who emphasised greatly of education in community development. The session was quite engaging as it experienced active participation from both school officials and the local stakeholders.
The fourth day was when the Grand Finale of the tour happened, and it was held at Ogute Oke (Hon. Danco Hall). This final day wrapped up with a very powerful lineup of experienced speakers/facilitators. Mary Omokhagbor, SSA to the Edo State Governor on Social Media, addressed the responsible use of digital platforms while promoting female education. Mr. Kenneth Amedu further emphasised the need for educational equality. The day also featured presentation of awards, appreciation messages, and a celebration of knowledge we’ll shared and impacted.
Further, the tour successfully implanted, nurtured and inspired hope and vision in the young minds, thus reinforcing the value and importance of education, and united communities in a shared commitment to educational growth.
From Ukumunyio to Ogute Oke, the 2025 Okpella Education Tour was more than just an event, it was a movement intended at educating, empowering and elevating the younger generation. The purpose may have ended in celebration, but its impact and message will continue to live on and resonate.
