The Association of Campus Journalists, University of Benin held its induction ceremony, officially welcoming and introducing its new members into campus journalism. The event, which was held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, welcomed 11 new members who have shown potential to carry the association’s vision forward.
The ceremony was graced with the presence of the Founding Father, Mr Ayoola Adeleke, the Pioneer President, Mr. Collins Odabi, and a one-time Secretary-General of the Association, Miss Obende Deborah. They addressed the members of the association, dishing out ethical advice.
Mr Collins Odabi, in his address, gave the background of the association, emphasising its mission and vision. He admonished the new members to keep their passion burning.
Mr Ayoola Adeleke also delivered a short, enlightening address, emphasising how campus journalists should be an epitome of change and truth within the university community. He enjoined the members to “keep the ink dropping”.
The new members, in accordance with the constitution of the association, swore an oath of allegiance, promising to adhere to the association’s rules and regulations and to uphold the integrity of the association.
