Comr. King Lemuel Alpha, the President of the Students’ Union Government at the University of Benin, has been appointed as a member of the Presidential Special Committee on Campaign Against Social Vices in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.

The notice of appointment was contained in a letter addressed to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Benin, on March 5, 2024. The inauguration of this special committee was held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Honourable Minister of Education (State) Conference Hall, Federal Secretariat, Abuja.

This campaign, led by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Students’ Engagement, Hon. Comr. Asefon Sunday GCNS, is geared towards curbing the alarming rise in social vices amongst students in tertiary institutions.

The committee’s objective is to develop a real-time plan and strategy that can be used to address and combat these disturbing issues in tertiary institutions. It is believed that Comr. King Lemuel Alpha, as the Students’ Union President at the University of Benin, will play an important role in achieving this objective.
