The University of Benin management has directed students and staff to resume academic activities on Wednesday, 22nd March, 2023.
The Senate of the University of Benin, at its Emergency (Virtual) meeting held today 10th March, 2023 accessed the recent development with respect to the directive of the Federal Government on closure of Universities nationwide to facilitate participation in the 2023 General Elections.
Due to INEC’s postponement of the Governorship and State Assembly elections by week, from the previous Saturday 11th March, 2023 to Saturday 18th March 2023, Senate found it necessary to adjust the resumption date of the institution.
Senate, after due deliberation, decided that the University should pause academic activities for one additional week, approving Tuesday 21st March, 2023 for resumption. Students resident on campus are expected back in the school hostels on that day while normal academic activities resume fully on Wednesday 22nd March, 2023.
The registrar, A.A. Bobola, stated in the official memo signed by and released from his office, that members of Staff and Students are to comply appropriately with the decision of senate.
