The monarch of Benin, Oba N’Edo Uku’Akpolokpol, Ewuare II, after a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Friday, July 14, 2023, while addressing journalists, said that “Nigerians should support the President. He will work; he is already working.”

The revered Oba of Benin further said, “He has hit the ground running; everybody is seeing it. They should support the President. Of course, we will support the President. Other traditional rulers will support the President. We must support the President to be successful.”

At the time of filing this report, the reason for the visit of the Oba to the President is unknown, although believed to be a formal congratulatory visit to the President on his inauguration and to discuss other issues affecting Nigerians.

The meeting of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Benin Monarch came after a meeting of the President with a former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, at the Presidential Villa.
