Snoop Dogg Becomes Co-owner of Championship Club Swansea

By Nwaneri Uche

Popular American rapper, Snoop Dogg, has officially become a co-owner of Swansea City, a club in England’s Championship League. This development brings together two unlikely worlds — hip-hop and professional football. According to an official statement from the club, Snoop now shares ownership with Croatian football legend Luka Modric, who recently signed with AC Milan after his departure from Real Madrid.

Just days ago, Snoop appeared on the club’s social media wearing the latest home kit for the 2025–26 season. Now, it’s been confirmed that he has bought a stake in the team.

His involvement follows a change in the club’s leadership, after American entrepreneurs Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen took over in November. With over 100 million followers online, Snoop Dogg’s presence is expected to give Swansea a massive publicity boost as they work towards rejoining the Premier League, a division they last played in before being relegated in 2018.

The club’s management has expressed a clear goal — to grow revenue and invest more in players, all while staying within the financial rules of British football.

In a heartfelt message published on Swansea’s website, Snoop said:

“Everyone knows I love football, but this step into ownership feels personal. I was drawn to Swansea’s history and its people. It’s a strong, hard-working community — a club that’s used to fighting back. That really speaks to who I am. I’m honoured to be part of this journey.”

Back in April, it was announced that Modric had also acquired a portion of the club before completing his move to Milan.

Referencing one of Snoop Dogg’s famous songs, the club’s new owners stated:

“This truly is the ‘next episode’ for Swansea City. With Snoop’s huge fanbase, we believe we can expand our reach and open up new opportunities.”

They also noted how committed and enthusiastic he has been about the deal, saying his input could be a game-changer in building a stronger team.

Interestingly, this move mirrors the story of fellow Welsh club Wrexham, which gained international attention after being purchased in 2020 by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Wrexham has since climbed up to the Championship, proving how powerful celebrity backing can be in football.
