The executives of the National Association of University Students (NAUS), Edo State Campus Monitoring Committee (CMC), led by the chairman, Comr. Osahon Eseosa , on November 23, 2023, paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Edo State.
The leadership of NAUS, CMC, Edo State visited the ministry with the aim of discussing the achievements and challenges faced by the association and seeking opportunities to collaborate and partner with the ministry. At the meeting, Comr. Osahon Eseosa Destiny, Chairman of NAUS CMC, Edo State, expressed the interest of the association in contributing to the decision-making processes within Edo State.

Comr. Osahon continued by proposing the inclusion of students in governance and appointing them as special assistants to the Governor of the state, drawing inspiration from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which appointed students in similar advisory roles. He was emphatic about the potential role of students in policy formulation for the development of the state.
A member of the executive, Comr. Sharon Osimhi, highlighted ongoing and upcoming projects of the association, which includes the Edo State Campus tour, student awards, scholarship schemes, the university hub, and the Edo State University social competition. The Director of Youth added by talking about the importance of unity and concentration for progress within the association.

The Honourable Commissioner, Zubairu Dada, acknowledged the concerns pinpointed by the leadership of the association and offered suggestions, which included him recommending other ministries that can effectively address specific challenges. He expressed profound admiration for the executives’ critical thinking abilities and the plans for university students in Edo State, assuring the ministry’s willingness to collaborate. He further emphasized the commitment of the Governor of Edo State to providing necessary facilities for training opportunities for university students.

Comr. Abadoni Chukwuwenke David gave a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude for the warm reception of the association’s leadership by the Honourable Commissioner. The meeting of the association with the ministry had in attendance also, the Enogie and Vice President of the National Association of Benin Students (NUBS), University of Benin chapter.
