No fewer than three phones, a power bank and a bag have been stolen in what has been described as a silent operation, during a study session in night class, by unknown individuals at University of Benin, Ugbowo campus. The incident took place between the hours of 2am and 5am in 1000LT at the Faculty of Physical Science today, Wednesday 24th March, 2021.

The criminals were suspected to have come in group as they carried out their operations neatly without the victims nor anyone present noticing. The items were stolen at different times and were discovered to be missing less than 30minutes after the deeds had been done.

In an interview with our correspondent, the victims, who identified themselves as Osariemen Faith, Ganagana Uzezi and Michael Odion, said the phones were stolen from their bags at different seats and times in the LT when they decided to take a short break from studying. Eye witnesses confirmed the incidents and helped to search around for the missing phones and bag until they realised they were gone and could not be traced.

“This is the second time my phone will be stolen here. I’m never coming to night class again”, Michael lamented.

Our correspondent, who was present at the crime scene at the time the horrendous act took place, discovered that the missing phones were a Gionee M6 mini, an Itel A32 F, and a Tecno K7.

Students are hereby advised to be extremely careful with their personal belongings if they find it absolutely necessary for them to attend night classes.
