In the early hours of today, the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) management issued a memorandum, apprising residents in specified areas of an impending power outage. As per the memo, the outage is slated to commence from Monday, 13th November 2023, and persist until 7th January 2024.
Quoting from the memorandum, the disruption is imperative for the replacement of an antiquated 40MVA transformer with a state-of-the-art 100MVA transformer. The BEDC management articulated, “This upgrade aims to augment the supply capacity for the affected areas.”
The affected areas encompass:
Ikpoba Hill, Benin-Agbor Road, Auchi Road, Temboga, Upper Mission, Army Signal, Igiesota, Ikhuenero Village, and environs.
Siloku Road, New-Benin Market, Psychiatric Hospital, Banks around Uniben, Okhoro Road, Federal Road, Upper Lawani, Uteh Village, Palace and environs, Adolor, FGGC Road, Ugbowo, Ekosodin, Ishor, and environs.
Ekiadolor, Uselu, Oluku, Iwoya, Okhun, Utekon, Otokhore, Ora Communities, Textile Mill Road, Egbor, Obanosa, Uwelu, and environs.
The BEDC management conveyed their regret over the inconvenience caused by this planned disruption. They sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and assure residents that concerted efforts are underway to collaborate closely with the TCN team, ensuring a prompt and efficient completion of the upgrade exercise.
