The much anticipated national sports festival tagged “Edo 2020” has successfully come to an end, the accompanying euphoria gradually goes down following the immediate resumption of academic and non academic activities in the host institution, University of Benin.

However, students are likely to face hard times indirectly incurred from the sports festival.

Such is the sympathetic fate of occupants of Hall 1 and Hall 2 residence where bunks have been reportedly missing.

Our correspondent who visited the halls of residence yesterday, gathered that upon returning to their hostel spaces, students became stranded with no bed to sleep at night.

Some of the students were forced to spread their mattresses on the bare floor.

Reacting to the development, the hostel porters admitted the unfortunate disappearance of the wooden bunks but added that nothing could be done about it.

Effort to reach the mayor of the various hostels was ongoing as at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the students have pleaded with the school management to quickly come to their aid.
