Faculty of Education could become the first team to win the five-a-side and VC Cup in the same year when they battle the ever green Faculty of Agriculture in the final tomorrow 14th July 2023 by 4pm CAT at Main Bowl, Sports Complex, University of Benin.
It has been a rollercoaster year for Education who barely 3 weeks after triumphing at the 2023 five-a-side, are now in the VC Cup final. The team has been off to a flyer since the beginning of the tournament, they breezed past Medicine in the preliminary round with an aggregate score of 15-0, then finished top of group A above Agric, Arts and BMS before overcoming Life Science 2-1 in the semis to seal its spot in the final.
Meanwhile, Agric will prove to be a tough opponent as they go toe to toe with the indefagtible Education. Agric have had impressive tournament as well, finishing runners up in group A before needing penalties to beat Engineering 5-4 in the semis to advance to the final.
Elsewhere, in the female category the stage is set for a fascinating duel as Social science take on Engineering in the final tomorrow 14th July 2023, 3pm same venue. Social Science reached a third consecutive semi final in all competitions where they defeated Education 2-1 while, Engineering needed a lone goal to beat Life science to set up a scintillating final fixture.
With the odds in favour of Education, can they make history or will Agric defy expectations?
