Globacom, a well-known telecom company, has announced intentions to modernise and extend its network across Nigeria. This project is driven by the company’s commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction and service performance. In reaction to recent price changes approved by regulatory agencies, Globacom reaffirms its dedication to providing higher network quality and more coverage. To ensure that all of its members nationwide receive the best return on their investments, the organisation has been putting in a lot of effort. According to a statement issued on Tuesday, Globacom has worked hard to relocate its fibre infrastructure in several important locations.
Unplanned road construction projects have had a negative impact on these areas, leading to fibre cable vandalism. The goal of the move is to provide customers with top-notch services and guarantee top-notch network quality for voice and data services nationwide.
The planned installation of new base stations is a crucial part of this upgrading. In addition to providing coverage to newly unreached areas, these base stations will densify already populated areas. The goal of this densification project is to ensure top-notch network quality for data and voice services across Nigeria.
Globacom has called attention to the costly relocation of its fibre infrastructure in many key locations where road expansion has negatively impacted network quality. Among the affected areas are important roadways such as Auchi-Okene, Benin-Ekpoma, Lafia-Akwanga, Minna-Abuja, and Funtua-Gusau.
With several hundred more sites expected to be completed countrywide soon, the company’s continued efforts portend bright futures for its clients. The network has set up thousands of 4G LTE sites in strategic towns and places this year alone, and hundreds more are being rolled out to increase capacity even further.
Along with a substantial expansion of backhaul capacity that incorporates both fibre and microwave technology, the core network has also been improved in a seamless and well-planned manner. Globacom has assured customers that these concerted efforts will lead to better service delivery, more coverage, and a higher-quality network. Faster data rates and enhanced network performance will follow from this.
With a focus on adding more LTE stations, the company intends to deploy over a thousand new sites in the next year to increase its reliable internet coverage. Additionally, Globacom is prioritising fibre extension to a number of its hub locations in an effort to improve the reliability and robustness of service delivery. As part of its attempts to be environmentally sustainable, the telecom company is also focussing on lowering its carbon emissions. This entails a substantial investment in itself, a growing spread of hybrid power solutions, and a move away from generators and towards battery power across all of its locations countrywide.
Despite these advancements, Globacom said that although telecommunications architecture is categorised as critical national infrastructure, deliberate network equipment sabotage is still a threat. The company emphasised the need for more aggressive action to prevent such incidents.
