The Dean of Student Affairs at the University of Benin, Prof. Clement A. Ighodaro, has issued a directive ordering students to vacate the hostels within one hour, effective immediately. This directive comes on the heels of the earlier announcement shutting down academic activities due to the students’ “unrealistic demands”.

According to a statement signed by Prof. Clement Atewe Ighodaro, Dean of Students, at 10:16AM on July 4, 2024, students are required to leave the hostels promptly.

This development is the latest in the ongoing standoff between the university administration and students, who have been protesting the prolonged power outage and poor living conditions on campus.

The situation is developing, with students refusing to back down on their demands. The sudden evacuation order has left many students scrambling to find alternative accommodations.
