University of Benin wins Outstanding University of the year 2023 award in Kigali, Rwanda.

The University of Rwanda, have hosted its first ever African Education Summit in Rwanda, in which Nigeria’s University of Benin bags the “Outstanding University of the Year” award.

Speaking at the event which was themed “Post COVID-19 and the Challenges of African Education, A Focus on Oriental Health”, Prof Adesegun Fatusi, the public health physician and professor of community health at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (OAU) featured as the keynote speaker. The event also witnessed various guest speakers both within and outside the continent of Africa. The likes of Dr Jerry Vreeman, the executive director of LION Outreach International Colorado Springs, United States and also Sonja Prinsloo, a school proprietor from South Africa. Not forgetting Prof Tom Achia from Strathmore University, Kenya and a host of many others. The aim of the event as disclosed was to address the challenges facing Africa’s educational system at present and the means to a way forward.

During an award presentation, special recognition was given to the University of Benin, Nigeria as the Africa Outstanding University of the Year 2023.
While the university’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Lilian Salami was honoured as Africa Pillar of Education for her impact in Education development in the Continent.

The conference lasted for three days, 22nd – 24th March 2023.
