The management of the University of Benin has announced a rescheduling of all examinations originally planned for Saturday, 2nd September 2023. This decision has been made to facilitate the participation of both staff and students in the forthcoming Edo State Local Government Election, slated for the same day.
Recognising the significance of civic engagement, the university’s management has directed Deans and Heads of Departments to ensure strict compliance with the rescheduling directive. This move is aimed at allowing the academic community to exercise their democratic right to vote and engage in the local electoral process.
The University’s Public Relations Officer, Benedicta Ehanire, PhD, conveyed the announcement in a communique released on Thursday, 31st August 2023.
“The Management of the University of Benin has directed that all examinations scheduled for Saturday, 2nd September 2023 should be moved to another date.
“This is to enable Staff and Students to participate in the Edo State Local Government Election billed for this Saturday.
“Deans and Heads of Department have been urged to ensure adherence,” she stated.
The decision signifies the institution’s commitment to encouraging active citizenship among its members.
As per the new arrangement, updated information regarding the revised dates for the postponed examinations will be communicated to students.
