The Governing Council of the University of Benin, led by Professor Umaru Shuaibu, has officially approved the appointment of a new Bursar and University Librarian. The appointments followed a rigorous selection process, which included competitive interviews for key principal positions within the university.
Mr Osagie Iguma Uwagboe Osifo, a distinguished member of the University of Benin Alumni Association, has been appointed as the new Bursar. He holds a degree in Accounting and is a Fellow of the Chartered System Accountants, USA. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Bursar of Edo State University, Uzairue.
Professor Jane Igie Aba has been appointed as the University Librarian. A graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, she is a respected academic in the Department of Library and Information Science. She served as University Librarian at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, from 2016 to 2021. Most recently, she was Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at the same institution.
Both appointments are for a tenure of five years and their appointments are expected to contribute significantly to the continued growth and administrative excellence of the University of Benin, as the institution strives to uphold its legacy of academic distinction and efficient service delivery.
