The University of Benin commenced its POST UTME examination on October 9, 2023, with the exam scheduled to continue until October 14. However, the institution has come under scrutiny, as concerns about its competence have arisen. Parents, guardians, and aspiring UNIBEN students have voiced their discontent with the handling of the first day of the annual POST UTME.
Reports suggest that the exam organizers deviated from the established schedule, leading to significant delays for candidates who were unable to start their exams for several hours past their designated time slots. Furthermore, parents and guardians have criticized the demeanor of security personnel and examiners, describing them as unapproachable and excessively strict.
In an interview with an anonymous guardian, she expressed, “The entire process is disorganized. How can someone scheduled for a 10 am exam not be able to begin until 3 am? This reflects poorly on our country.” Another anonymous individual added, “I have always accompanied my children to write their exams here, and they have never encountered such disarray. I’m uncertain about what went wrong. It’s disheartening and regrettable.”
Many have attributed the mishandling of the POST UTME examination to technical issues. A UNIBEN aspirant who also experienced difficulties commented, “Some people’s computers weren’t functioning properly. My mouse was malfunctioning, and I had to be cautious while using it.” Nonetheless, the pressing question remains: “What has led to this sudden deterioration in the management of the UNIBEN POST UTME examination?”
