In a significant development, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof Lilian I. Salami, will, on Friday, 29th November 2024, commission the alumni-driven solar electricity project, an initiative aimed at tackling electricity challenges in the institution.
The commencement of this solar electricity project dates back to the period of BEDC disconnection of the power supply on campus. The university’s alumni thus commenced fundraising for the deployment of electricity supply to critical sections of the university.
The news of the commissioning of the alumni-driven solar project was contained in a memo signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, er, Benedicta Ehanire (Ph D). _Glad to announce that the first phase of the project is completed and ready for commissioning, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lilian Salami, invites the VC designate, Principal Officers, Provost, Deans and Directors, the Alumni community as well as Students Union executives to the ceremony._ The memo reads.
This landmark event is scheduled to be held on Friday, 29th November 2024, at Hall 1 by 11 am.
