The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the University of Benin has allegedly begun mobilising students for a protest scheduled to hold tomorrow, Monday, 24th November 2025, at the university’s main gate.

At the time of filing this report, details surrounding the planned demonstration remain unclear, as the SUG has not released any official statement explaining the reasons behind the mobilisation.

However, inside sources allege that the planned protest may be connected to the reported removal of union dues, as well as an alleged increment in the acceptance fee for newly admitted students. These claims, though unconfirmed, have contributed to rising tensions and discussions within the student community.

Students are expected to converge at the main gate on Monday as developments continue to unfold. The university management has yet to issue any official comment or advisory regarding the alleged protest.

Further updates will be provided as more verified information becomes available.
