In a notable celebration of World Parliament Day, the Nigerian Sociological and Anthropological Students Association (NSASA), in collaboration with the NAUS National Vice President South-South Zone, set to host a leadership-focused webinar themed, “Student Parliament: A Pathway To Societal Impact and Personal Growth.” 

This upcoming virtual event aims to uncover the revolutionary or life-changing power of Student Parliament in shaping responsible, effective, and visionary leaders. Through dialogue and insights, participants will be able to explore students’ lasting life skills, such as leadership, negotiation, public speaking, problem-solving, and democratic participation.

The Speaker of NSASA Parliament, Rt. Hon. Selimah Adisa asserted that the event is not only about celebration but a gateway and opportunity to reflect on how student leadership can challenge issues like drug abuse, unemployment, insecurity, and moral decay among youths.

The webinar, which has been scheduled to be held on June 30, 2025, via Google Meet, will feature Ayere Elisha and Mary Ayomide Okpako as the main speakers. Ayere Elisha, a first-class graduate of Sociology and Anthropology, a one time SUG Chief Whip, one time Public Relations Officer for the Faculty of Social Sciences Students’ Association (SOSSA) and a former Electoral Chairman, an will speak on the topic, “Student Parliament as a Leadership Lab: Sharpening Life Skills for the Real World.” And, Mary Ayomide Okpako, a graduate and the second female speaker of the Faculty of Life Sciences Students’ Association, will address the topic, “How Parliamentary Experience Equips You to Tackle Societal Issues.”

This webinar is open to student parliamentarians, legislative representatives, aspiring leaders, and youth-focused organisations. It offers participants a platform for personal and professional development, leadership insight, and a platform to connect with fellow leaders from across the country.
