UNIBEN Signs MoU with Fujian Jiangxia University, China, to Foster Academic Exchange and Global Partnerships

In a strategic move to deepen international academic collaboration, the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fujian Jiangxia University, China. The agreement, signed during an official visit by a Chinese delegation, lays the foundation for robust teacher- student exchange programmes and joint research initiatives between the two institutions.

Leading the visiting team was Professor Ling Quidan, President of Fujian Jiangxia University, who was warmly welcomed by the Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN. Also present at the meeting were key university stakeholders, including principal officers, provosts, deans, and directors.

In his address, Professor Omoregie shared insights into the cultural heritage of Benin and the foundational mission of the University of Benin to produce skilled manpower capable of advancing national development. He emphasized that the partnership aligns with his administration’s five-point agenda, particularly in the areas of global collaboration and sustainable academic growth.

Professor Quidan, visibly pleased with the reception and the technological advancement witnessed at UNIBEN, expressed optimism about the new relationship. He commended the university’s commitment to innovation and stated that the partnership would create valuable development opportunities for both institutions.

The MoU aims to open doors for academic staff and student exchanges, collaborative research projects, and other mutually beneficial academic pursuits, solidifying UNIBEN’s growing footprint on the global academic stage.
