UNIBEN Secures Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship

By O.V.Collins

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has recently been awarded the prestigious Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship through the esteemed Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Programme (CADFP).

The fellowship was awarded after the successful entry of a project proposal on Environmental Justice and Sustainability by the institution’s Directorate of External Linkages and Internationalisation, under the leadership of Professor Ehijie Enato. The project was in collaboration with two Nigerian professors based in the United States: Hilda Dunkwu and Paulinus Chigbu, both of whom are alumni of UNIBEN.

Professor Lilian Salami, the Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, commended the team for their exceptional work and expressed the administration’s dedication to elevating UNIBEN as a global center for education, research, and community engagement.

To ensure the fellowship’s objectives are met, a steering committee has been established, comprising experts from relevant fields within the university.

The Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Programme is a renowned scholar fellowship initiative that supports educational projects conducted at higher education institutions in Africa.
