The Dean of Student Affairs Division, Prof Clement A. Ighodaro has debunked the circulated rumours that the University of Benin will reopen for the resumption of academic activities on Monday, July 8, 2024.
A voice message that have been circulating on WhatsApp amongst UNIBEN students on alleged that the Dean said the suspended academic activities will resume on Monday. In the voice message, the “student” claimed to have met with the Dean on Saturday, July 6th, who gave him this information.
Contained in a disclaimer released on Saturday, the Dean pointed out that the contents of a voice message is “a fallacy”. He denied meeting with any student and giving out such information.
“It is a fallacy as I was neither in school today nor had any meeting with anyone,” Ighodaro said.
He also established that the school’s academic activities is still suspended indefinitely.
“For the avoidance of doubts, as directed by the Senate, the school remains shut for academic activities indefinitely,” the Dean concluded.
