Earlier reports alleging that the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the University of Benin was mobilising students for a protest on Monday, 24th November 2025, have now been confirmed to be false.
A member of the SUG Executive, who spoke on the matter, clarified that the Union is not organising any protest and that the circulating information is misleading. The executive described the rumour as unfounded and urged students to disregard it.
The SUG also reassured the student community that any official action or communication from the Union would be released through its recognised channels, not through unverified online posts.
Students are advised to remain calm and continue their normal academic activities as no protest has been scheduled or authorised by the Union.
