The University of Benin (UNIBEN), has on Friday 4th of July 2025, officially appointed Professor Fred Osaro Ekhaise as the new Dean of students.
He replaced Prof. Clement Ighodaro from the Faculty of Social Science, who served as the Dean of Students throughout the Administration of Vice Chancellor, Prof Lillian Salami, from 2019 – 2024.
Prof. Ekhaise, is a distinguished professor of Environmental Microbiology, from the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Life Sciences. He is the 197th inaugural lecturer at the uUniversity of Benin. He delivered his lecture titled, “Microbes, Man and The Environment: Constant Interaction”, on the 26th April, 2018.
As Dean of Students of the University of Benin, Prof. Ekhaise will be fully responsible for the student affairs, welfare, and discipline of the university’s students. Prof. Ekhasi will be responsible for overseeing his first Student Union (SU) Election.
