The National Universities Commission (NUC) sent a representative from Abuja to the Department of English and Literature for the quadrennial accreditation.

NUC representative made the visit to the University of Benin on Monday, 19th November 2024, for the reaccreditation of the department.

There were at least five (5) representatives from each level present. The NUC representative began by giving a warm welcome to all the students in attendance.

The session commenced with the representative asking each student to introduce themselves. He then spoke about the importance of the department and highlighted the benefits and opportunities associated with the course.

He also asked the students about any challenges they might be facing in the department and whom they could approach for support in such situations.

The representative took time to teach the students some essential virtues, particularly the importance of showing respect to the lecturers and professors of the department.

He further enquired if any of the students felt threatened by lecturers within the department, to which the students unanimously responded that they did not feel threatened.

After thoroughly questioning the students and addressing their concerns, the NUC representative expressed satisfaction with the responses given. He then concluded his visit and departed.
