In light of recent security concerns, the management of the University of Benin has issued a notice to all students of the institution regarding the heightened security alert in Ekosodin community and its vicinity.

The alert, as reported by ACJ UNIBEN, revolves around the forthcoming burial ceremony scheduled for this weekend in honour of the vigilante chairman who tragically lost his life in Ekosodin some time ago.

Students are strongly advised to conclude all activities today, Friday 9th February, no later than 6pm and promptly return to their residences within the community. The memo further stated that it is imperative that students remain indoors throughout Saturday until the conclusion of the burial proceedings.

Those residing on campus are also urged to return to their respective hostels before nightfall during this period to ensure their safety and security.

Additionally, members of the University community are notified that the gate leading to Ekosodin will be closed from 7pm today and will remain shut throughout Saturday.

This notice, released on Friday, and signed by Professor Clement Ighodaro, Dean of Students, on behalf of the university’s management, aims to prioritise the safety and well-being of all UNIBEN students and personnel.
