In response to residents’ complaints about the soakaway system in front of Block E at Hall 1 hostel, the management of the University of Benin has demonstrated a swift and effective approach to address the issue. Acting promptly on the complaints, the management immediately initiated repairs on the damaged parts and successfully drained the excess water.

ACJ UNIBEN reports that as at August 5, 2023, the cockpit of Block E, Hall 1 in the school hostel had reached maximum capacity and posed a structural hazard to the residents of the school hostel. The report immediately caught the attention of the management and swift action was deployed, beginning with physical assessment of the structures across the various hostels.

The repairs started a few days after the publication and was finally completed on Friday, 25th of August 2023. Notably, the proactive response wasn’t limited to Block E alone. The management took a comprehensive stance by extending their efforts to include the soakaway systems of Blocks F and G as well. This approach showcases the dedication of the school management to ensure the comfort and well-being of its hostel residents.

 

The diligent actions taken by the school management have not gone unnoticed by the hostel residents. Expressing their gratitude, the residents praise the promptness and efficiency with which the concerns were addressed. The resolution of this issue stands as a testament to the school’s commitment to maintaining a conducive living environment for all its students.
