In an official announcement made by the Dean of Students, Prof. Clement Ighodaro, the University of Benin has scheduled its Halls of Residence Executive Election for the academic year 2023/2024 to be held on Saturday, 16th March 2024. This significant event is poised to determine the leadership structure within the university’s Halls of Residence.
The memo, circulated as a notice to all undergraduate residents, outlines key dates and procedures for participation in the electoral process. Interested candidates are encouraged to obtain nomination forms from the office of the Head of the hostel, starting from Monday, 4th March. The deadline for both the collection and submission of nomination forms is set for Thursday, 7th March 2024, at 12 noon.
Campaign activities are slated to commence on Thursday, 14th March, and will run until Friday, 15th March 2024, allowing candidates ample time to present their platforms and engage with their fellow residents.
Several positions are up for contest, including Mayor/Mayoress, Deputy Mayor/Mayoress, Financial Secretary, and Welfare Officer. These roles are integral to the effective functioning and welfare of the university’s residential communities.
As anticipation builds towards the election day, students are gearing up to participate in the democratic process, ensuring that their voices are heard and represented in the governance of their respective halls of residence.
