Tension in the air as Linguistics lost to Masscom, 2 to 3.
The match started in a turmoil as a linguistics player who was given a red card in the previous match, was spotted on the pitch. The organizers and the referee was against him playing but his coach was bent on his playing, due to the fact that he missed the penalty play between linguistics and ISD. The penalty play earlier this morning was to decide on which team is to go on to the semifinals.
With a bit rolling and tossing of words, the linguistics player was not allowed to player, and linguistics played with a complete number of players. Then the game started.
Masscom who came late due to traffic, made use of the instability of their opponent and secured themselves a goal by Victor in 2mins of play. They didn’t stop there, as their opponent wasn’t stable yet. Lewis came with another goal, 5mins after the first. Then Praise sent the ball into the net in the 21st minutes of the game and secured his team their 3rd goal.
Linguistics seem to be calm at this point, as Laurence was able to move his team from a nil point as he secured them a goal.
Half time of the match ended in 3-1.
The second half was a spontaneous come back for the linguistics. They were able to secure for themselves a penalty goal by Michael.
Thereafter, the atmosphere changed. Linguistics needed a goal and Masscom needed a win. So hard the struggle was which led to 4 yellow cards and a red card to the Masscom team. Ebuka, who was given a Red card, committed a foul as the ball hit his hand in the penalty box. He already had a yellow card, so the next for this foul was a Red. This led to Linguistics second goal.
Then came the final whistle. Linguistics lost to Masscom; and Masscom graduated to the finals which is scheduled to 29th of April, 2021.
The total yellow card for the match was seven; of which 2 was awarded to Linguistics and 5 to Masscom including a Red card.
