In a recent communique to the UNIBEN community, the University of Benin has enabled accommodation booking charge payments for students. This update is part of the regular procedures for the upcoming academic year and follows the recent adjustment in school charges.
Starting at 3PM on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023, accommodation booking for the various halls of residence using the HOS Activation code will kick off.
However, it’s essential to note that this opportunity is exclusively available to students who have completed their payment of charges and successfully registered their courses online for the 2021/2022 academic year. Students who have not fulfilled these requirements will not be able to proceed with payments for the 2022/2023 academic session therefore cannot pay for accommodation booking code.
Furthermore, it is important for students to be aware that any bed space allocated but left unclaimed for more than two days will be reclaimed by the school. This policy aims to ensure efficient utilization of the available accommodation resources.
Importantly, the administration emphasizes that bed spaces are not for sale, and any attempt to violate this policy will result in severe sanctions.
Here’s a step-by-step guide for students looking to book accommodation:
- Log into your student online record.
- Under Accommodation, select the particular hall of interest.
- Alternatively, choose “No Favored Hostel.”
- Under Payments, create a Bed Allocation ticket and make payment using any valid ATM card from your Student Profile. It’s essential not to make payments directly on the Remita website as it won’t link back directly to your profile.
- After requesting a bed space, Student Affairs will upload available assignments. Students are advised to check back after a minimum of two days to view their assigned space.
- Students assigned spaces from Student Affairs also need to use their booking code to access their assigned space.
- Upon successful booking, students should proceed to pay the relevant Hostel Maintenance fee assigned to their allocated space.
- Finally, print out relevant slips to use for clearance into the Halls of Residence.
Interested students are advised to take note of the designated time and promptly secure their accommodations.
